We launched a fiber ISP in Kashmir with ₹0 in VC funding. Here's how the business actually works.

No VC. No angel round. No startup accelerator.

ViberNet runs on customer revenue, operator margins, and infrastructure that compounds over time.

Here's the rough economics of a fiber ISP:

  • → You lay fiber once. It lasts 10+ years.
  • → Every new customer on that fiber is near 100% margin after ops.
  • → The asset appreciates as the area develops.

But the hard part isn't the fiber. It's the operations.

Customer acquisition → KYC → installation → billing → support → retention.

Every step is a place where things break, customers churn, and money leaks.

We built software for every one of those steps. Not because it was fun. Because every broken step costs money.

The lesson: software is an operational investment, not an expense.

If it removes friction, it pays for itself.

That's true for an ISP. It's true for almost any business with operational complexity.

This is Day 3 of my 30-day build-in-public series. Every day I share what I'm actually building, at ViberNet and our software agency. No fluff. Follow along.

Tip: Not every post will blow up. And that's fine. One post reaches 20k, the next reaches 1k. What matters is the cumulative signal you send to the algorithm and to your audience: that you show up every day regardless.

Consistency is the strategy. Virality is just a side effect.
